Setup change #1

I have a Xbox Series S. Correction: I have a Xbox Series S that i sadly don’t use as much as i’d like to. Now, that will change (i hope!). I have recently altered my setup, and hope that this will help me use the system more! For the first time, i’m also going to connect a mouse and keyboard to the Xbox - and so far, i’ll tell you: I can snipe.

And here it is: My new setup layout! Utilizing the ROG Azoth as the keyboard between the systems and the G502 X for the Xbox (I drive a MX Master mouse for my macbook) - The cables are a little bit off still. The magsafe… it’s all over the place, but i PROMISE that i have fixed some of it since i took this picture already!

G502 X has entered combat

The maiden voyage of the G502 X, and i’ll have to say, it was a little bit strange at the beginning. I still have to get used to the shape of the mouse, and some of the buttons: to configure them juuuust the way i would like to… BUT: my oh my, is this mouse DEADLY! That sniping button to lower the DPI when being pressed is a beast-mode move during combat. I scored so - so many kills during my Halo play session, that it was a blast using this thing! It felt like i was in control the entire time. Through my scope, i set the rules for the battlefield and how this would go down - heck yess!

In combination, i also got to test the ROG Azoth - for real - out on the “fields of battle”, and it impressed me a lot as well! Sure, a keyboard is not the same as a mouse when it comes to importance in most games, but; it truly has it’s effect on the performance, enjoyment and control. The switches got to show me what they’re made of, and the keyboard as a whole sounded and performed amazingly well.

In general, i will recommend using a mouse and keyboard for FPS-style games on console. It just gives you more accuracy and more precise movement in general. BUT; when it comes to platformers or more laid-back games, i get how a controller can be the go-to. Myself, i grew up mostly playing consoles, so i get it. Neither is a bad choice, or “wrong” in any way. What gives you the most joy, is what you should use.

I for one, will probably switch between the Xbox controller and the mouse and keyboard. Controller for Kingdom Hearts and Spyro, mouse an keyboard for Halo. At least, that’s what i’m thinking so far. We’ll see what actually ends up happening!

Where did the xbox move from?

For the past year and a half, i’ve had my Xbox underneath my TV (in a shelf, ofc), and been playing it on TV. Sure thing, it has been chill. But i have used it very rarely. In a previous setup, when i had the Xbox hooked up to one of my monitors, i used it way more often. It also gave a better picture, due to higher framerate and better color gamut on the monitor compared to the TV.
