MBP, so sorry. Will do better!

Ah, yes… my MacBook Pro. Actually, quite the machine. I love the build quality, the battery is amazing, and OMG what a screen! I totally understand what all the Apple fanatics were talking about for all those years. Sure thing, it takes some getting used to. The MacOS is by far the biggest thing to get used to!

For the past couple of months, i have been using my old Windows laptop more frequently than my MacBook. Although, with some exceptions when i found out that Valheim became compatible for MacOS (i was all over it!).

So… i do feel like this has to change. I want to love the entire “Mac experience” and most of the time, i do. There are still some things (read: many) i need to get used to, but it continues to dawn upon me when i actually actively use the system - just how good it is, and intuitive.

Habits. Darn habits.

As with most things here in life, it’s most about habits really. I’ve always only had Windows machines, so naturally, i would gravitate towards returning to that operating system, even if the machine running it is “inferior” to the system running the MacOS. Especially hard, is the fact that i use Windows machines in my day-to-day work as well, so i get the taste of that sweet Windows experience.

Now, the trick will be to try and exclusively use the MacBook Pro whilst at home. Use it as my “home machine” for all things regarding game development, design work and video editing. Even as an entertainment machine. YouTube and Spotify slave. All of it. Not that it wouldn’t manage to handle all of these task with ease; cause it will. Been there, done that. But i always seem to lean back to my old Windows laptop. No more. I will stay strong, and do my very best to only use my MBP from now on!

A portable power house

Yeah. I know i might get some smack from the title, but listen up!

This thing can play a couple of the games i like, such as Civilization and Valheim with no trouble at all. It can do the 3D work that i need to do for games, and it works perfectly for the scripting that i do to create game logic. All of this, matched with a battery that lasts me the entire day - and longer - with a 10/10 screen and all aluminium body. The Macbook Pro can handle it, no problem at all. And i do truly think the machine itself is beautiful.

What has held me back, is the operating system. I’m not used to it. The shortcuts, the keyboard layout and special keys… not used to it at all. Note those words: not used to it. That doesn’t mean that it’s bad. It just means that I do not know, or aren’t familiar with things properly yet.

I will however do my very best to get to know this great system, and machine, properly. Going forward, it’s going to be MacBook only at home. I must admit, i’m a little bit “scared” - but let’s just call it excited. I’m excited!

The specs

I have a MacBook Pro 16 with the M3 Pro chip. 12 Core CPU and 18 Core GPU, 18GB RAM and 512GB SSD.

Abbi

Hi! I like games, and think that they’re the ultimate form of art; combining music, color and story - all in one product.

Trying to create a game development company here - brb!
