Making short videos!
Being an entrepreneur leads to a lot of things. Often, to cut back on costs, you end up wearing a lot of hats. Learning new skills and getting to know many systems and sub-systems that makes an operation like a business work, is very; very interesting! Today, i have done such a task (as i have done before) - that being: making short videos!
Marketing is without a doubt a field that is needed to get any business to work. In the digital age, and for most products or services, the video format is a great format that can be entertaining and profitable at the same time. I have taken this more seriously during, and especially after, launching my debut app on Google Play, Tanks on Wheels.
I saw the effect that this had on the marketing of my game, and saw that banners and images didn’t have nearly the same effect as the videos had. I rushed, to quickly make more videos in multiple formats to get the campaigns up and going. Rushed, indeed… and my editing skills at the time? well, nothing to brag about. I made videos, but that’s about it. Nothing too fancy.
This all taught me valuable lessons, that i have taken with me on my journey to make better material for games, and how to market them correctly. With my second app, Shipload, i was ready. Had multiple videos in different formats lined up before launch. Yet, i have chosen to add more - into the same formats, and also with some tweaks and changes. The following were added into my campaign today!
Widescreen 6s video
Portrait 7s video
Square 7s video
I think the most important thing to do, is to actually read some of the statistics that Google provides through their solutions, regarding your ad performance and what could be done to improve traffic etc. (if you’re using some other service than google, still, check stats!)
The thing about these stats, is that we’re all winning on taking the advices and tips given to us into consideration. You get better results (good for you!), you end up spending more money (good for provider!) cause you end up earning more money (good for you!), AND; the potential users end up on your app (good for users and you!). If that ain’t a giant win, i don’t know what is!
Here is the widescreen video i published today
All-in-all, it’s been a productive day, and i have done some good work on my business. Sure thing, no coding was done here - but this leaves a great impact for the coming days and weeks of the marketing campaign for Shipload!
Hope you’re having an awesome day - cya!
