I bought a book #2
I don’t know - if it’s just me, something in the wind, or just the times we’re in. This “find purpose” or “happy life”-style of books are really taking off. Maybe it’s due to how our society has evolved throughout the past decades? Expectations, easy access to information (social media - sharing, exposing, comparing, etc) and the feeling that nothing is ever good enough - or will satisfy enough, to actually make us genuinely happy? Either way - i’m on a roll here, and the next book up is: “IKIGAI - The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life”
I have not read, or heard about any of the authors in advance, so i’m excited to get to know their style and approach to the many subjects that this book might cover - since it holds a secret to a long and happy life, I would presume it isn’t as easy as a “one-liner” kind of thing. That would be too easy. Héctor Garcia, Francesc Miralles - I’m ready to dive into this book!
I have naturally been given some tips through social media (du’uh) - many people have preached about this book on LinkedIn, and i get why. The title itself is quite inviting, and WHO WOULDN’T want a happy life? and a secret? SPILL IT!
If i have to guess, i would guess this book boils down to a “treat others as you would yourself”, a golden rule kind of thing, and that materialistic values should be forgone. Again; just a guess. We’ll see if it ends up being a good guess or bad guess in the final review!
One other exciting aspect here, is how this book ends up against Mark Manson’s “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck” since these books are seemingly touching upon the same subjects (kind of, from the title), or at least would certainly appeal to the same crowd! Not going to directly compare them, as they are two different books - but you see where i’m going with this!
Either way: I’m excited to give this a go! Woohoo!
