Academic writing

Here i am, getting used to how to write and research academically again! Dear lord, i have not missed this. It surely is different than what regular reading and research looks and feels like. Although, I must say, that i am quite intrigued at the same time. I feel like i am taking deep-dives into subjects and topics which are more “serious” and actually worth something - if that makes sense?

Efficiency - my trait

We have just started the first semester. We’re on the first subject, and the project assignment (which counts as an exam) is due at the end of November 2024 or early December 2024. Group project, 10 000 words. In two days i managed to get down 2000 words by myself of academic grade.

Sure thing, you know how it is. Some of it will be revised, cut, changed, even deleted at the end and in the “polishing”-stage of the paper. But still. Damn. I guess one might say, that when i get the spirit; i really utilize it. it drives me.

I believe it is a general trait i have. If there are any hints of a spark, it catches fire and explodes. In the blink of an eye. It can be a superpower, not gonna lie… but it can be a curse as much as a gift, because the level of eagerness and efficiency often has a tendency to dial down. I guess everyone is like that. There is a hype-period, and there is a “meh”-period. Either way, I take good advantage of my hype-period!

Sources and citation

This is by far the most important thing! Sources and citation of the proper source. Of course, you also have to be sceptic to the material you’ve sourced, and where you sourced it from; but at the very least remember to cite it correctly. Make sure that the material you’re using is from accredited sources, and that it would give you some grounds and the paper some “punches” (in a good way) when people see what kind of source you have cited regarding your topic. Academic papers, books from experts at the topic, documented experiments, stuff like that.

So far…

I have enjoyed the start of my studies so far. Granted, we’re one month in. Part-time studies. one subject at the time. Ask me again in a few months, or a year; and we’ll see what i’m going to say then. Either way, some bragging here: i am incredibly proud of myself for taking this step. Starting a freaking master’s degree whilst also doing a full-time 9-5 job in finance whilst also running my own game company. To some; crazy. To me? Crazy awesome.
