2/3 is good

As with many things in life, you encounter people you do not like too much. Totally fair, and that is part of life itself. We have to deal with people we don’t like often. Sometimes, you even have to work closely with them. I am in such a situation, and I am here to tell you why and how I put up with it.

The situation is, I have an officer in my guild that I do not like. We are naturally not compatible on a social level, and he comes off as rude. Now, I am not a psychologist, a doctor, or anything like that. But I am pretty sure he has a diagnose. His social antennas are off, if they’re there at all. He seems unable to get off a single compliment, and always focuses on the negative. For any of you that have to work with people like that - or manage them. I feel for you.

Either way, enough about that. Now, over to why I have him in my officer team in the first place. The guy is good at the game, and he does his research. Rude as they come, but he knows his stuff. Sure, he makes mistakes like everyone else - but not that often. He shows up, on point, every time. That is something too. He is on point, have read up and is ready to clear content.

For me personally it isn’t too much fun having him around. But for the guild, he is a household name to be counted on. And I respect that.
The guild comes first. It’s bigger than me, and the member’s needs has to come first.

So he gets 2/3.

I advise anyone in similar situations, to look at the positives as well - not just the negatives.

It is far too easy to get carried away with all the things a person does wrong. Especially if you don’t have a liking for them in the first place.

But split the entirety of the person’s contributions, and view them as singular states and instances. This way, you might end up realizing that it is for the greater good that they’re here.

On another note, you could just sack ’em. Kick them out. Fire them - what do I know.

I have of course been thinking about that as well. Not gonna lie.

Either way, at the end of the day: 2/3 is good.

If we are to apply logic here, that is.
