I’m a student again!
Yup, you read that right! I have officially started to study again! I’m super excited to start the journey towards earning my Master’s degree in Digitalization! I have thought about getting a master’s for years now… Finally doing it! It will be challenging, and it will take time - but i truly believe that this will be a great investment. I will take my studies at UiA - University of Agder, in Norway!
I will study part-time, and it will be ALL ONLINE (thank god!). There was never any question of quitting my day-job, so it had to be part-time. The “all online” part is just a really cool bonus, if you ask me. It makes it much easier to keep track of, and no unneeded logistics to incorporate into an already filled schedule.
But what?
I know. Digitalization is a really, really broad term in general. Here, let me break this degree down:
The subjects (mix of mandatory and optional):
Digitalization and sustainability (Mandatory)
Data Science as a strategic tool (Mandatory)
Strategic use of ICT (Mandatory)
Digital Transformation (Mandatory)
Cyber Security Management (Optional)
Responsible AI (Optional)
Master thesis:
Master thesis consisting of independent research connected to a project or phenomenon (possibly) within my then current organization of employment.
After all of these has been completed and graded (passed, but preferably way more than just a passing grade) i will receive my Masters in Digitalization, and have a Master’s degree! Woohoo!
Ahead… Well, i know…
There will be a ton of hard work. This will take time, and will require discipline to not give up. A Master’s degree is harder to complete, and will require more scientific work and academic know-how to get right, but i believe that it is possible for me to complete this, and end up with a degree at the end. Since it’s part-time, it will also take some time to complete the studies. About 4,5 years - to be exact. Of course, there can be variations, based on if you’re willing to take more than one subject each semester, and the progression of the thesis, but yeah… the general timeframe here is 4,5 years.
Wish me luck - i’ll need it! And i will bring you all along with me, on this journey - the best i can!
