In-person = best

Recently me and two mates of mine thought to ourselves: “You know, those LAN-parties we used to throw together when we were teens, those were actually really fun” - before you know it, we’ve scheduled to have one the very next day. We went for the standard “supplies” of frozen pizzas, cookies and soda. Amazing.

In total, we were three grown men down in a basement playing Civilization 6. Honestly, one of the best gaming sessions i’ve had in years. The laughter, the chill atmosphere, all of it. A true throwback to the days where we actually had to be sitting in the same room, to be able to play together. Sure thing, it’s all nice and handy to be able to play across the internet without any issues - but the in-person experience from something like this, is just the best thing.

For the generations to come…

I wonder what its like growing up in 2025. Being a young kid, or a teenager… a gamer. I doubt they actually go visit each other, bringing laptops or their desktops. I mean, i sure hope they do; but i doubt they do it to the extent we were doing. There is something about the friendships that strengthens when we’re all together, both physically and virtually. The strategizing comes to life, and the jokes levels up quite a bit. I sure hope that the current and coming generations don’t forget to get together for playing games - although, it might not always be needed; or even practical.
